Who are we?

James Morgan | Managing Director

A journalist and communications professional by trade, James (aka Jim) has been fortunate enough to travel the world, writing about science, technology, politics, business, tourism, education and more.

Before launching Chatty Duck Creative in his spare bedroom, Jim performed a variety of editorial and PR-focused roles in the UK and UAE, working as Editor for ITP Media Group’s Construction Week portfolio, English-language Editor at Expo 2020 Dubai, and Head of Communications at Staffordshire University.

He now spends his days drinking tea and helping clients…

And he’s all out of tea.

Vikki Morgan | Operations Director

After graduating from one of those posh bridge-based universities with a postgrad degree in English and Education, Vikki enjoyed a 12-year career as a primary teacher at schools in the UK and UAE.

Sadly for her pupils, the lure of unlimited tea and biscuits proved too tempting so she joined Chatty Duck Creative in 2022.

In addition to providing expert support with written content, Vikki is responsible for client experience and the longer-term expansion of our multimedia offerings.

She also spends an inordinate amount of time on Pinterest, but apparently that’s all part of the job.

Katy Edgington | Head of Editorial

Katy is an experienced journalist, editor, copywriter and marketer who has produced a wealth of content across a broad range of sectors, from technology and R&D to food, beverage and lifestyle.

Despite reading English Literature at the University of St Andrews, one of the UK’s most prestigious seats of learning, Katy still found time to study Italian, Linguistics and Film on the side. Before joining Chatty Duck Creative, she worked as a marketer for a number of large-scale organisations, including Staffordshire University and Purechannels – The Channel Agency.

When she’s not writing, Katy loves to read (Kingsolver, Mantel and Atwood are her favourites). When she’s neither reading nor writing, she enjoys knitting socks and crocheting blankets.

So, whether at work or at home, Katy knows how to spin a good yarn and move the needle.

Domenica Smithies | Content Manager

With a BA (Hons) in Journalism from the University of Chester and a Master’s degree in Global Media and Culture from Keele University, Domenica (aka Dom) has introduced some much-needed academic rigour to the Chatty Duck Creative office. She’s also a super-talented storyteller who’s loved writing since she was in primary school (which, depressingly for the older members of the team, doesn’t seem that long ago).

Dom’s passions include fashion and music. She’s a massive Kanye West fan and reckons she has more pairs of trainers than she does friends.

Dom is also a huge animal lover, having adopted four rescue cats whose names are Reggae, Marley, Jamrock and Kingston. She says if you ever meet her in person, she’ll probably be covered in their hair.

We haven’t noticed that, though.

Cornelius Morgan | Chief of Security

As Chatty Duck Creative’s Chief of Security, Cornelius takes his responsibilities very seriously indeed. He may appear to spend most of his time licking Dom’s expensive trainers, clawing at Katy’s tights or snoozing beneath the nearest available desk (despite having a perfectly good basket in the corner), but don’t let that fool you. He’s constantly on the lookout for miscreants and ne'er-do-wells.

Cornelius’s favourite hobbies include chewing on leaves or pebbles (he’s not fussy), sniffing bins and ignoring full bowls of kibble in favour of human comestibles.

He also spends large portions of the working day barking ferociously at his own shadow. Would-be intruders don’t stand a chance.

Quackson (web) 2.png

Quackson Pollock | Office Muse

As you’ve probably gathered, Chatty Duck Creative isn’t the world’s largest agency. Nevertheless, our tight-knit team has built up an extensive network of industry contacts and creative collaborators who can be called upon to support clients’ projects on a case-by-case basis.

Despite rumours to the contrary, Quackson represents an integral part of the Chatty Duck Creative setup, providing inspiration, a splash of colour and the occasional pond-related hot take.

That said, we’re still waiting for them to make their first brew.
